  • How to Use the Congress APP

    1. Email attendees
      Go to the “Dashboard”, click on “Attendees”, search for the person you would like to contact and click on “BIOGRAPHY”, then “CONTACT BY EMAIL”. On this page type a subject line and a message and “SEND MESSAGE”. The person will receive the message in their app inbox and in their email account.
    2. Schedule a meeting with other attendees
      Go to the “Dashboard”, click on “Attendees”, search for the person you would like to contact, click on “BIOGRAPHY”, then “SCHEDULE A MEETING”. Choose a date and time, add a meeting location as well as a message and “SUBMIT REQUEST”.
    3. Take notes during talks
      Go to “Programme”, find the session you would like to take notes for and click on the arrow on the right-hand side, then choose a talk in the session by clicking on the arrow.
      On this page click on “Add Personal Notes” which you find in the right-hand corner. Don’t forget to save!
      You can email your notes to yourself from the “MY NOTES” icon on the dashboard.
    4. Find exhibitor booth location and contact details
      On the Dashboard go to “Exhibitors” to find the booth number and exhibition floor plan.
      When you click on the link next to exhibitor you will find all details the company provided.
    5. Find sponsor contact details
      On the Dashboard go to “Sponsors”. When you click on a sponsor logo you will find all details the company provided.
    6. Read abstracts for Wednesday and Thursday presentations
      Go to “Programme”, click on the arrow next to the title of the session you are interested in. Then click on the arrow of a talk or a poster. If there is an abstract, you will find it there. Please note that not all presentations have an abstract.
    7. Receive communications via the WebApp or block this function
      On the Dashboard go to “App Settings” and then “Privacy”. You can choose yes or no as answer to the question “Receive communications”. Rest assured that we will never display your email address unless you contact someone else first.
    8. Be on the list of attendees or hide your name and affiliation from the attendee list
      On the Dashboard go to “App Settings” and then “Privacy”. You can choose yes or no as answer to the question “Publish in delegate list”. Rest assured that we will never display your email address.
    9. Change your attendee list profile
      On the Dashboard go to “App Settings” and then “Profile” to update your profile. Under “Photo” you can update your profile photo.
    10. Build your agenda to be all prepared for the meeting
      Go to “Programme”, click on the arrow next to the title of the session you would like to visit. Then click on the specific talk / poster. On this page in the right-hand corner click on “add to favorites” to add it to your agenda. Do this with all talks / posters you would like to see. When you then go to “My Agenda” you will see the date, time, title, room and presenter of all the talks / posters you added to your favorites.
    11. Need general info about logistical aspects of the meeting and your stay in Strasbourg
      On your Dashboard go to “General Info” or approach one of our staff at the registration desk.

    Tickets can be purchased at the blue vending machines, found at U- and S-Bahn-stations, at many tram and bus stops and newspaper kiosks. Note: Before first embarking, the ticket must be validated - insert the ticket into the small stamping machines posted at the entrances to U- and S-Bahn tracks or on trams and buses.

    Saving Money on Transportation

    Tageskarte (day ticket): good for a day of travel within the inner city costs 6.40€ for one adult.
    Partner Tageskarte:, costs 12.29€ and is good for up to 5 people traveling together
    3-Tageskarte (3-day ticket): costs 16€
    Partner 3-Tageskarte: good for up to 5 people traveling together, costs 28.20€.

  • WiFi

    All participants who have an Eduroam account should use it.
    Participants who do not have such an account shall connect to the Bayern WiFi signal. There is no password.

    IXA 2019 is not accredited for continuing professional education.

  • Certificates

    A personalized Certificate of Attendance will be sent to all participants via email by the end of October.

  • Congress Recordings

    All registered attendees will have the chance to view the Congress Session recordings online on the Congress web app for up to a year after the Congress. TTS and/or IXA Members will also have access in the member section. Only presentations for which TTS received pre-authorization from the presenter will be available for online viewing.

    The Euro is the national currency. Automatic teller machines and exchange offices are readily available. Most hotels, restaurants and shops accept major credit cards.

    The following exchange rates apply (September16, 2019).

  • Evaluation Form

    The Congress evaluation form is available online. The link will be sent to delegates on October 12 by email and through the app alerts, with reminders being sent in the following days. The Organizing Committees and IXA council appreciate your constructive feedback.

  • Exhibit Hours

    The Exhibit Hall is located in the main common area on the ground floor of the LMU. Given the long program hours, it is at the exhibitors' discretion when to staff their table top exhibit.

  • Language

    English is the official language of the Congress. Therefore, the program will be presented in English only.

  • Liability

    The Organizing Committee and/or the International Xenotransplantation Association and/or The Transplantation Society and/or any of suppliers shall not be held liable for personal accidents or losses or damage to private property of registered participants of the IXA 2019 Congress. Participants should make their own arrangements with respect to personal insurance.


  • Lost and Found

    Any lost and found items will be held at the registration desk for the duration of the event. For any unclaimed items after the meeting, please contact The Transplantation Society.

  • Non-Smoking Environment

    The Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München is a smoke-free environment. Smoking is forbidden in all areas

    Entrance to the scientific sessions and the exhibition will be limited to badge holders only. For security purposes, all participants must wear their name badges to all social functions.

  • Sales Taxes

    Current VAT rate in Germany is 19% for most goods and services. There is reduced VAT rate (7%) for some goods and services. Reduced VAT rate applies e.g. on sales of certain foods, books, transports, magazines, flowers.

  • Tipping

    Service and VAT are included in the menu price in restaurants, bars, etc. all over Germany. Still, it is typical to "round up" the amount to some more-or-less round figure. A rule of thumb is to add 5-10%, generally ending with a full Euro amount.
